FY-ELEC 7994: Strategic Analysis and Consulting
In this course, students will take a “deeper dive” into the strategy concepts introduced in the first year core Strategy course, with an orientation towards the practice of consulting—translating analysis into recommendations. We will place heavy emphasis on problem definition and hypothesis testing in the first half of the course. In the second half of the course, we will explore effective strategies for articulating the findings and recommendations from strategic analyses, both verbally and through “deliverables” (e.g., slides, spreadsheets, graphics).
Academic Course Objectives:
· Integrate strategy tools and frameworks introduced in FY Core Strategy
· Build proficiency with problem definition and hypothesis testing
· Develop skills necessary to present strategic analyses and recommendations
· Practice providing, receiving, and incorporating feedback on deliverables
· Understand the fundamental elements of strategy consulting
Elements of the Course Grade:
· Grade will comprise (1) class participation [30%], (2) individual exercises [30%], (3) final group project & presentation [40%]
